...When it all comes to an end..

Hasta luego Buenos Aires and Argentina

Hi everyone!

So here’s my last entry on this trip, which has now come to an end.
I am now sitting in London, waiting for my last flight that will take me home to snow, Christmas and Norway. I am so tired, and I cannot wait until I am finally there after almost 1,5 day travelling! Even though I am sad to leave 30 degrees and Argentina it feels quite ok to be on the way back home also.. I guess I have been pretty spoiled when it comes to travelling these last 2 years…

When that is all said.

I have had some absolutely wonderful last weeks in Argentina and Buenos Aires even though day have been a little stressful.
My mum, her friend and my sister came down to spend my last 2,5 weeks with me. I had by then finished my classes at school, and I was so ready for some vacation!

The first days were spent on shopping, a daytrip, sightseeing and relaxing, before we took the boat over to Montevideo in Uruguay. It was fun to see Montevideo with all its old buildings etc but I have to admit that I am a bigger fan of Buenos Aires. The day after we went to Colonia which is an old colony city at the coast at Uruguay. This city was very charming and nice, but I guess 1,5 day was enough time there.. It is small and there is not too much to see..
Here are some pictures from Montevideo and Colonia, Uruguay;

We had one night in Buenos Aires before we headed up to Iguassu and the famous waterfalls that are placed between Brazil and Argentina (also very close to Paraguay) and what an impressive nature phenomenon!!
We spent 1,5 day at the Argentinean side and then we took a tour over to the Brazilian side and Paraguay (which wasn’t very interesting)
I hope you will enjoy the photos and if you ever have the chance, go there, you will not regret!!!

1 month left

Running around trying to have time to everything...

overcast 27 °C

Hi!

Too long time since i updated the blog. The truth is that i havent had enough pictures, or time to update it. Anyway, here it is!
I have now LESS than 1 month left here! I can’t believe it! And it is less than two weeks before my mum, her friend and my sister will come here, something I really look forward too! Everything is more or less planned ☺

I have now started with private lessons twice a week beside my already 4 hours of group lessons at school, and I have started on Pilates once a week.
It is very effective and good since we are only two (sometimes three) and the instructor.
As you know from my earlier entries I was suppose to volunteer for a month here. I never started since I feel that the program didn’t offer me the work I wanted to do, which I am quite happy about now because I have so much to fill my days with! I thought I was supposed to work at a center for kids, but it turned out to be very different from what I expected. They found another program that was much more interesting, but then I had already booked my privatclasses.. well, maybe next time..

I went to my second soccer match down here, and for them who are interested in football will probably know that this game is one of the biggest and most excited ones in Argentina. It was between the two rivals River plate and Boca juniors.
I have a video that I hope will give you an idea of how crazy it was!

We didnt get tickets with the Boca supporters so we are in the crowed of crazy River supporters.

It was a lot of fun, but we were all quite tired after more than four hours with all the screaming and the drums, But definitely worth the money! (Tickets were quite expensive)

This was how it looked BEFORE the game started

I have also “started” to do some shopping. . Shoes, purses, dress. Love it!
And another Norwegian girl and I had a whole spa-day a couple of weeks ago..
It was so good. Facial massage and treatment, massage, sauna, peeling etc. We were in heaven!! It was the perfect day for two girls! So as you might understand, I am not complaining, life is good!

Last week my friend that is studying in Chile came to visit her sister and me here in Buenos Aires. It was such a good but intense weekend. We did all the most touristic things in two and a half day. And I think she had a great time. Maya is very into markets so I guess she was in heaven here in Buenos Aires. I still don’t understand have anyone can spend that many hours just walking around at a marked, haha ;)
It was great having her here!

Chile :)

A short trip to Chile to visit Maya

Hola!

Finally enough pictures and stories, so here’s my third update from Buenos Aires!
Life is still good! The weather is getting warmer, and my Spanish is getting better ☺
The time is now starting to go by so fast, and I cannot understand how I could have so much spare time before…!

Last week, I went to Chile to visit Maya, who is an architecture student in Valparaiso. It was so nice to finally see her again!
I landed in Santiago Friday afternoon after a long trip from Buenos Aires. They almost did not allow me leave, because they claimed that I needed a visa to get in to Chile. I had to stand at the check in BsAs and persuade them to let me go. Sometimes I just get so frustrated over how little information the people at the check in have!
Anyway, I got to Santiago where I was walking around with Maya, met some of her friends and had dinner before we went early to bed. The next day, we woke up at 7am and went to the meeting point for our daytrip to a small village (for a museum) with an old steam locomotive and then later to a vineyard.
It was such a good trip. The trip with the locomotive was amazing, and we got food and tasted different types of wine on the way to the village.
After the museum and the lunch, we headed for the vineyard where they are making the wine “Viu Manent” It was a lot of fun, and I wished we could have some more time there…!

Later that night, we went to Maya´s city, Valparaiso.; A small but charming city on the west coast of Chile, with amazing houses and architecture.
I just loved all the art you can find everywhere in the streets, and i can easily understand why Maya likes it over there! The two days I had there went by very fast, and we spent most of the time walking around in the streets, taking pictures, eating ice cream and eating good food.. And oh yes, I am afraid I soon will turn in to a gorda! ;)
On Monday,we said goodbye and I made it back “home”. It was good to be back since Chile was so cold when I was there, but I wish I can go back to one day soon.
In the meantime I will wait for Maya to come here to visit me in November.

Besides me Chile-trip there are not many news since my last update. School, food, friends and so on.. It is very weird, I am now one of the students that have been at the school for the longest time, and people comes and goes. Every week are there new “last-dinners” and more goodbyes.. It is always sad when someone leaves..

For every week i am here, the more i explore and the more i see.. I finally went to the cemetery where Evita lays. It was such a special place.. like a little city with small streets and many chapels. Thank you Chris for going there with me! (i didnt wanted to go there by myself)

I still love this city, and i enjoy the weekends when i have the time to just walk around drinking coffee and look at the different markeds close to where i live!
I can´t wait for my sister, my mum and her friend to come down here so I can show them around!

I will post some pictures from the city, and if you want to see some more, check out the album ☺
Hope you are all doing just fine!
Hasta luego!

Daily life in BsAs

almost been here a month...

Hola!

So i finally found some time to write my second entry here ;)
I have now been here in 3 weeks, and I am starting my 4th week at school.
The time has passed by very fast, but at the same time it feels like it is such a long time since I left Norway..
I have started to know the city a little better, and I feel more comfortable walking the streets – and I don’t get lost as often as I used to!
It is the smallest things that make me feel more home, like the daily walk to the bakery close to my place to buy empanadas or dulce de leche cookies, or the shops I am passing on my way to school.
I still like my apartment, even though it is in a little dangerous part of the city (at night) Therefore I always have to take a taxi at night and I have now finally started to call for them after a very scary taxi trip last week.
I would definitely moved to another place if I didn’t already paid the school for three months at this place..

IMG_1524.jpg

And then we found out that we should shave Micheal´s head

IMG_1502.jpg

IMG_1487.jpg

IMG_1488.jpg
....And the result...hm.. sceptic..

Two weeks ago I had the apartment a whole week for myself. It was a little boring, but at the same time it was great to shower whenever I wanted to or be able to leave the dishes if I wanted to.
Last weekend a Norwegian guy moved in with me. He is so much fun and it was great to have him here staying with me. He even bought me a Kinderegg.. isn’t that the perfect roomie or what?
Unfortantly he had to leave earlier today when two other girls from Switzerland moved in.

I really like my school but even 4 hours of spanish can be a little too intensive or boring at times..
IMG_1475.jpg
From a day when i was just too uninterested in paying attention in class.. At least it is in spanish ;)

I have been taking salsa-classer every Wednesday. It is fun to finally take some classes again even though it is not as intensive and good as the ones I had in Mexico or Norway.
I have even signed me up for the gym close to my place. I went there once, and I don’t think I will go back again. It was in so bad condition compared to Norwegian standards and there was only guys working out. I think I will try to find a pilates or yoga class instead. So Marit, I will try to do it right, if not you can correct me the next time we meet ;)
We also have the time to go out once and a while. I really love the nightlife here but it still hard to get used to go out around 1am or 2am and come home at 6am or 7am!!

Chris (my bodyguard here - haha!) and me.

This weekend I went to a place called Tigre. It is a place where all the portenos (people from Buenos Aires) go when they want to get away from the city for some time. It is approx. 1h away from BsAs by train. The city is quite small but it has over three hundred small rivers and many people have summer/vacation houses by the rivers. If you go far enough away, you can find crocodiles and anacondas! (No, we did not see any!!) The place was so pretty, but the river was just very muddy and dirty. I cannot understand how people can swim there!

Rahael and Kai, two people from school that went with me to Tigre

Last Monday I had the best dinner at Guillermo’s place (A friend I met when I was backpacking in central America) he had made us dinner, and it was so nice to have a home cooked meal again! (Not that I ever will complain on the food here!) It is very nice to know some people from Argentina, since most of the people I am hanging out with are from school.

Yesterday I went to a theatre with a friend of Gillermo. It was such an interesting experience because the dinner and the play were preformed in complete darkness! We were guided to the table by one of the workers and you couldn’t see anything! After that a waitress came and explained us where the food, wineglass and dessert were placed on the table. It was so weird! Usually you can see something in the dark, but here you were surrounded by completely darkness! The point is that you are using your other senses, and therefore pay more attention to taste, smell and sounds! I thought I would panic but I actually managed to be a little comfortable after some time and some glasses of wine ;)
Luckily for me there was not that many dialogs (in Spanish) but a lot of songs and good music! It was so great and I will recommend everyone that gets the opportunity to do something like that to go! You will never forget it!

And by the way, i am going to Chile this weekend! I am so lucky to have my bestfriend only a couple of hours away from here!Im really excited!!

I am off to a birthdaydinner! Happy birthday Kai ☺
I hope my English wasn’t too bad!

I miss and love you!

Besos!

Ps. There are more pictures in the album..
